A Curated Summer Stay For Top Mexican Media in Vail

The crown jewel of Vail, our beloved Opus estate, played host to a select and renowned group of journalists from Mexico City in early June. In partnership with Discover Vail, the group experienced a custom-curated summer adventure in true Apex fashion over the course of three days. Discover the one-of-a-kind adventures and experiences our VIP Apex Host, Erin Ridgely, curated for our new friends from Mexico.

The Home: Opus

At the enviable intersection of Vail, Forest, and Beaver Dam Roads, and the very cusp of Vail Village and Willow Park, you’ll discover Vail Village’s most singular estate, Opus. Combining for a total of nine bedroom suites, two elevators, two year-round outdoor heated swimming pools, and two hot tubs, the residence is emphasized by a breathtaking combination of fire and water features and further complemented by Vail Valley’s natural mountain landscape. Endless amenities, state-of-the-art everything, and a dynamic blend of mountain-inspired custom art culminate in celebration of luxury modern mountain living. Widely known as the crown jewel of Vail, your days and nights are nothing short of spectacular at Opus.

Built into the rise of Vail Mountain, Opus stands six stories high at an apex of more than 70 feet, with the entirety of its 15,000+ square feet above grade. Originally developed by literary titans and legacy Vail benefactors, the Webster and McGraw-Hill families, it’s an architectural feat without rival. The home’s nearly 360 degree vistas were created in parallel to the view corridors of Vail Village’s Gore Creek Drive and is–in perpetuity–the only single family home of its size, stature, and caliber in all of Vail.

The Experience

A SPECTACULAR WELCOME

Day One

Arriving to the home after hiking with llamas and our friends at Paragon Guides at Maloit Park, the guests were welcomed by a tour of the home and its abundant amenities. We welcomed them the best way we know how: With a champagne saber of a bottle of Rémi Couvreur and a tasting of caviar on the pool deck, presented by our Apex sommelier and owner of Lemon Rock Wines, Jason Hunter, as well as an artisanal charcuterie board from The Grazing Fox.

The group took advantage of time to settle in, unpack, and indulge in their opulent surroundings before heading to dinner at the all-new Chasing Rabbits for a feast of dinner and entertainment before returning to Opus for a nightcap and retreating to their guest suites, where they were greeted by turndown service, sweet treats, Mallié spa products and Opus' unparalleled beds.

The Best of Vail

Day Two

Our Apex team prepared a grab and go breakfast of yogurt parfaits, Village Bagels, fresh smoothies and more to fuel the group up for a day of Polaris and ATV riding at Camp Hale.

We’d planned for an afternoon pool party to enjoy the Colorado sunshine, but the weather had other plans. Opus features not one–but two–outdoor infinity pools and while we were forced to move indoors, we enjoyed the company of an assemblage of our most spectacular Vail experience partners.

Squash Blossom Vail and its owners, Hilary and Kevin Magner, arranged a curated display of some of their most unique jewelry and affixed permanent bracelets on the wrists of our attendees. DJ Kirby K churned out melodic beats all afternoon, and local celebrated artist Gus Gruner displayed his custom painted jean collection and created a custom masterpiece on the jeans of guest, Sylvia Rivera. We sipped on jalapeño grapefruit ranch waters and noshed on scallop and shrimp ceviche. Vail’s best photographer, Chris Beeson, was on hand to capture it all.

For dinner, we drank in the spectacular views from the 5th floor dining room with a private chef dinner by Chef Anthony Mazza, paired with a blended Mountain Cuvée red. Tired from the day’s adventures, we retreated to our rooms for one more restful night.

FAREWELL

Day Three

Before the group headed to DIA, several guests zipped through the town on state-of-the-art e-bikes provided by Evoke Vail. Chef Anthony returned for a made-to-order breakfast for our guests, eaten over the mystical mountain views and snowcapped peaks framed by Opus’ floor-to-ceiling retractable doors.
